Blow Out is aiming to be Australia’s leading (and coolest) indie music zine. Blow Out will offer enlightening and entertaining insight into the world of Australian and international independent music. Blow Out will cover the best and most interesting indie music being made today, including all the way from indie darlings through to cutting edge left of center artists. Our aim is for Blow Out to become considered a “tastemaker” music site in much the same way that Pitchfork has managed to do in the US. The zine will profile Australian and international performers and events via interviews and reviews produced by some of the best music journalists this country has to offer.
Develop a website for a new Australia-based indie music zine. The zine will comprise of 6 full CD reviews (one full page each) and 4 mini cd reviews (two paragraphs each with all 6 on one page), feature articles (x 3), live reviews (x 3), event listings (1 page broken into Australian cities), about page, contact page. The site must accommodate ads – one 728×90 top banner and one 160×600 side banner per page. The site needs to be easy to publish as content will need to be updated daily. A CMS (WordPress or similar) based site is recommended as we have no web designers in house to deal with HTML etc.
Project Use case
From here I did some planning and created several mood boards, wireframes, personas, competitive analysis and revised over the problems and goals once more. When I was ready, I then proposed my designs and solution to Blowout. As a result, there are several snapshots of the project below.
